Katusha renewed its status as World Tour teamYesterday, 21st November, as a result of the hearings held on 15th, 16th and 18th November 2011, the UCI Licensing Commission official announced that Russian Katusha Team was granted by the new UCI World Tour license for next 4 years.Katusha Team became the first Russian professional cycling team, which obtained a ProTour license in 2009. Thus, after 3 successful years in the highest cycling league, Katusha defended once again its right for a place among the best professional teams around the world. The UCI World Tour license was granted to Katusha Team from the UCI for 2012 – 2015. It has to be noticed, that 4 years – it’s the maximum prolongation of the license could be achieved. The UCI World Tour license gives Katusha Team a right to be a part of the best cycling events – Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, Vuelta a Espana, monumental spring classics. - Decision of the UCI Licensing Commission to issue a maximum 4-years World Tour license to our team means that from 1st January 2012 till 31st December 2015 Katusha Team will be a part of the highest pro cycling league of the world. I am absolutely satisfied with it. Obtaining such a license we got a possibility to take part in the most prestigious races around the world as well as reached a very important decision for the whole Russian cycling as both, sports and political sense. It became possible thanks to the head of ITERA Company Igor Makarov, who actively supports Russian cycling since 1992, - said Hans Holczer, general manager of Katusha Team. |
